We know all too well from our own experience that some "Disabled Friendly" or "wheelchair accessible" holiday homes are a far cry from what you might expect...

With this in mind we've done our utmost to make The Moat House the perfect place that you normally just can't find owing to the lack of facilities that are essential for you. The quintessential location for you to take that well deserved holiday or short break.

 

We've turned an historic building (c. early 19th Century) in an interesting location into a unique, spacious holiday home with superlative facilities whilst maintaining a lovely  'look and feel'. Using bright and daring colours in a sympathetic way with the architectural features of the house we think that we've created a space that is functional, interesting and totally "non-clinical".

Designed with disabled people in mind, whether you or a family member or friend uses a wheelchair, has reduced mobility, difficulty getting upstairs or needs assistance with everyday tasks - The Moat House is uniquely equipped to make your stay that much easier!

 

Of course, totally able-bodied groups are just as welcome to enjoy a holiday here too!  

 

At a Glance:

 

• Level access to the whole of the house (with the exception of Bedroom 3)

• Small ramps to front and rear entrances

• Lift between ground and first floors

• Floors suitable for powered wheelchairs throughout (except Bedroom 2 & 3)

 

Ground Floor:

• A spacious, welcoming reception hall, with space for parking/charging powered wheelchairs or mobility scooters and a separate cloak/boot room

• Large Farmhouse Kitchen/Dining Room - with wheelchair accessible Ovens/Cupboards/Fridge, rise & fall sink, hob & worktop and a large wheelchair accessible, extendable dining table seating up to 14

• Lounge – Sofas, bean bags and Rise & Recline chairs and equipped with Smart TV, DVD, Hi-Fi sound system, piano, Karaoke and games

• Bedroom 1 - Large room with twin beds (1 of which is a "large single" Rise & Fall, contouring bed with cot-sides) & X-Y ceiling track hoist

• Bathroom 1 - Wetroom with: Raised seat Closomat toilet with support arms; Rise & Fall shower/changing bench; X-Y ceiling track hoist; Level access shower area; Lowered basin; Emergency alarm and a choice of child's/adult's shower chairs

 

First Floor:

• Bedroom 2 - Configurable beds - Twin beds or Super kingsize Bed (unfortunately this room is not suitable for powered wheelchair users)

• Bedroom 3 - Large room with Kingsize bed with additional Double sofa bed
  (unfortunately this room is not wheelchair accessible - 3 step access)

• Bedroom 4 - Twin beds (1 of which is a contouring bed)

• Bedroom 5 - Double contouring bed & X-Y ceiling track hoist

• Bathroom 2 - High & Low basins, accessible toilet with arm supports, level access shower area with fold down shower seat
